Key ResponsibilitiesLead the selection and specification of:Process instrumentationProgrammable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human Machine Interface (HMI) equipment, and Direct Digital Controls (DDC)Develop and validate control system (BMS) sequences of operationsManage BMS design tasks, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and quality standardsConduct technical reviews and approve instrumentation and control system outputsReview submittals, conduct field inspections, and ensure compliance with design intentIndependently troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges within the engineering domainServe as a technical lead, mentor, and resource for the design teamFacilitate training and professional development for junior staffContribute to the preparation, review, and approval of RFP responses and pricing

Role Overview

The Controls Design Engineer - Building Management Systems (BMS) will join a remote team that includes Electrical and Control System Engineers, Control System Integration Engineers, and Technicians. The focus is on designing instrumentation and control systems for Data Centers, covering projects from conceptual design through detailed site plans, retrofits, factory witness testing, and construction administration.

What You Will Do

  • Design advanced BMS and control systems for Data Centers
  • Develop system specifications and detailed drawings
  • Work with other engineering disciplines, subconsultants, clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure accurate design and construction
  • Oversee assigned tasks throughout the project lifecycle, from initial concepts to construction support
  • Participate in site meetings, data gathering, and construction support as needed (occasional travel required)
