Job Overview
The Voice Communication Systems Engineer III is responsible for researching, designing, developing, testing, and overseeing the installation of advanced communication systems at Kennedy Space Center, including Mission Voice systems (Paging Area Warning & Mission Operational Intercom Systems). This role involves performing design and sustaining engineering tasks for the KSC Video Systems, writing detailed work steps, updating documents and drawings, supporting ongoing projects, providing engineering estimates, and collaborating with vendors and manufacturers.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply communication engineering standards, principles, and techniques regularly.
- Define system requirements and architectures for voice communication systems.
- Produce designs and documentation for voice communication installations.
- Create system Acceptance Test Procedures, Functional Test Procedures, and Operational Instructions.
- Collaborate with drafting teams to maintain accurate system drawings.
- Integrate custom and COTS products into existing voice communication system designs.
- Conduct sustaining engineering tasks such as part replacements, software upgrades, server maintenance, and failure analysis.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for escalated system issues.
- Develop engineering instructions for work orders that impact system design and configurations.
- Source materials and components that adhere to voice system specifications.
- Evaluate system upgrade projects and provide estimates for labor and materials.
- Deliver solutions for a range of moderate complexity problems.
- Operate under general supervision.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, accompanied by 5 years of relevant experience, or
- A Master's degree in Engineering with 3 years of relevant experience.
