Requirements:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline. A minimum of 5 years of experience in designing optical systems or camera modules for UAVs or high-volume embedded products. Strong expertise in optical design and analysis methodologies. Hands-on experience with camera hardware, specifically in lens and sensor selection, module assembly, and precision alignment. Solid understanding of image quality metrics and camera characterization techniques. Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve system-level image quality challenges, from prototype stages through to field deployment. Experience with opto-mechanical design and manufacturing processes, including scaling for production.

Role Overview

The Senior Optics Engineer will lead the design and development of high-performance optical systems for multi-rotor UAV and drone cameras. This role carries full technical responsibility for custom camera assemblies, from defining optical architectures to evaluating critical components.

What You Will Do

  • Define optical architectures and specifications, including selecting and qualifying lenses, image sensors, filters, and related components.
  • Set requirements for external contractors working on optical systems.
  • Develop and carry out optical testing and validation plans.
  • Monitor and ensure product performance in image quality, resolution, sharpness, dynamic range, low-light capability, and environmental durability.
  • Assemble, align, and troubleshoot prototypes to confirm functionality.
  • Work closely with RF, electrical, and firmware teams to support opto-mechanical integration.
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation and reports.
  • Lead ongoing improvements to existing systems, focusing on upgrades, cost optimization, and performance enhancements.
