Senior Mainframe DB2 Systems Programmer
Position Overview
As a Senior DB2 Systems Programmer at Ensono, you will provide expert system programming support and services to our mainframe clients. Your role will involve executing a variety of DB2 database administration tasks, ensuring optimal performance and reliability for our customers' DB2 environments.
The ideal candidate will collaborate with vendor teams to swiftly resolve database issues, and will take charge of daily database maintenance activities, which include creating backups, performing restores, monitoring file extent growth, scheduling reorganizations, and developing disaster recovery procedures. You will also be responsible for overall customer support and responsiveness to requests.
Additionally, you will conduct database optimizations, including regular reporting and analysis to enhance database configuration and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to customer service requests promptly, specifically for mainframe z/OS clients regarding DB2 databases and related products.
- Act as the primary support for issues related to DB2 and associated software products.
- Provide round-the-clock support to clients across multiple time zones.
- Assist in customer migration projects, ensuring smooth transitions regarding DB2 and related software products.
- Support for DB2 tablespaces and communicate status updates to customers and management throughout issue resolution.
- Document issues, causes, actions taken, and resolutions within the problem tracking system.
- Collaborate with disaster recovery teams to execute customer-specific disaster recovery plans.
- Maintain an efficient schedule to manage resources and ensure timely project implementation.
- Follow ITSM change control procedures diligently.
