Requirements:Experience working with K-12 students in recreational, educational, or community outreach settings. Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and community members. Familiarity with quality standards for after-school programs. Excellent communication skills with sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and the ability to respond effectively in emergencies. Current CPR and First Aid certifications are required. Must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or GED. FBI and DOJ Livescan Clearance is mandatory. Clearance of TB Test and DMV H6 printout is required. Physical capability to lead and engage in structured activities. Fluency in a language other than English is highly preferred.

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic After School Program Leader for our Middle School program. This vital role will involve guiding and supporting students through enriching academic, cultural, and recreational activities. Under the supervision of the ASAS-LA Program Specialist, you will create a safe and inspiring environment that fosters learning and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate in the planning and execution of daily after-school programs while working closely with the Program Specialist.
  • Develop lesson plans and implement activities that align with California State Standards throughout the academic year.
  • Maintain an optimal student-to-staff ratio of 20:1 by employing effective recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Foster a creative and engaging environment that incorporates academic, cultural, and recreational enrichment, including preparation of necessary supplies.
  • Utilize age-appropriate techniques that adhere to youth development principles.
  • Supervise students in various activity areas to ensure safety and engagement.
  • Exhibit professionalism in demeanor, communication, and appearance with all stakeholders involved in the program.
  • Engage with school staff, parents, and families to provide updates on program activities and student progress.
  • Participate in mandatory staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Be available for evening and weekend work as required.
  • Willingness to travel for off-site meetings, training sessions, and events.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

In collaboration with the City of Los Angeles and various school districts, ASAS-LA delivers innovative and impactful enrichment programs aimed at reducing drug use, crime, and violence, while enhancing student safety during after-school hours. Our organization serves over 8,000 students across 44 schools in underserved areas throughout LA County, including 12 elementary schools, 25 middle schools, and seven high schools.
