As a Math Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting Instruction: Collaborate with instructors to implement our specially designed curriculum and resources, facilitating advanced students in mastering intricate concepts.
- Providing Student Support: Engage with students individually during class activities, offering additional assistance as required.
- Classroom Management: Aid in maintaining an orderly learning space while assisting in managing a group of up to 16 students.
- Assignment Support: Help with grading assignments and delivering constructive feedback on student submissions.
- Building Relationships: Establish connections with students and staff to inspire their educational journey and promote academic growth.
- Fostering Learning: Contribute to an environment that encourages critical thinking and ignites academic curiosity.
The Ideal Candidate will possess:
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Strong mathematical abilities to assist students in navigating advanced concepts.
- Experience with or a genuine interest in working with younger students is highly preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A positive and supportive demeanor that encourages students to ask questions.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Familiarity with the AoPS curriculum is a bonus, but not necessary.
Required Experience:
- No prior teaching experience or education coursework is necessary for this role.
Schedule:
- AoPS Academy operates as an afterschool program, with classes held in the evenings and on weekends. Candidates must be available to teach during weekday after-school hours (starting as early as 4 PM) and/or on weekends.
- This role requires an initial commitment of approximately 3 hours per week for each assigned class.
- Each course meets once weekly for 1 hour and 45 minutes.
We are currently looking for candidates to fill the following schedules:
- Sundays - 10:15 AM - 12 PM
- Other time slots available upon inquiry.
