Your Role as a Part-Time Instructor:
- Deliver Engaging Curriculum: Utilize our specially designed curriculum created for advanced students to lead dynamic math classes.
- Foster Student Engagement: Actively involve students in hands-on learning experiences during each class.
- Manage the Classroom Effectively: Oversee a classroom of up to 16 students, ensuring a productive learning environment.
- Assess and Provide Feedback: Evaluate student performance through tests and assignments, offering constructive feedback.
- Build Meaningful Relationships: Establish connections with students and their families to positively influence their educational journey.
- Encourage a Love for Learning: Instill a passion for learning and critical thinking in mathematics among students.
Qualifications of Our Ideal Candidate:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
- A Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related or educational discipline is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of math content is essential.
- Experience in classroom teaching at the K-12 level is advantageous.
- Previous experience in teaching or tutoring is a plus.
Additional Information:
No formal teaching credential is required for this position.
Teaching Schedule (Academic Year):
- Classes are held during after-school hours on weekdays (starting at 4 PM) and on weekends.
- A minimum commitment of approximately 3 hours per week per class is expected.
- Each class session lasts for 1 hour and 45 minutes, meeting once a week.
Teaching Schedule (Summer):
- We offer several two-week camps from June to August.
- Summer classes run Monday through Friday for 3 hours each day with morning and afternoon options.
Location:
This is an in-person position at our Portland campus. Candidates must reside in Portland, OR, or surrounding areas and be able to commute to our campus.
