Qualifications

Holders of COC Class 1 or 2 with sailing experience on oil tankers. Minimum of 1 year’s experience as a Marine Superintendent in ship management operations. Preferred: Foreign-going Chief Officer with sea experience. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle multiple projects with excellent organizational skills. Analytical, independent, results-oriented, resourceful, and proactive.

  • Oversee vessel operations to ensure compliance with health and safety standards and environmental protection policies on board.
  • Provide guidance to vessels regarding adherence to company policies, international regulations, and oil major requirements.
  • Advise on legislative changes and industry best practices, submitting recommendations for approval.
  • Propose amendments to the company’s Safety Management System (SMS) manuals for approval.
  • Conduct annual internal safety inspections and navigational audits on vessels.
  • Perform internal ISM audits and coordinate external ISM/ISPS/MLC audits on vessels.
  • Assist vessels in preparing for SIRE inspections and conduct pre-vetting onboard.
  • Coordinate and attend SIRE inspections, following up with rectification reports within deadlines for approval.
  • Monitor the vessel’s PSC/FSC inspections and other external inspections/surveys (Terminal Inspection, P&I survey, Banker Inspection, etc.).
  • Investigate and report marine incidents, accidents, casualties, and customer complaints as required.
  • Implement and oversee corrective actions for any non-conformances related to health, safety, and environmental protection.
  • Assess the performance of the Master and sea staff via internal inspections onboard and propose necessary actions.
  • Conduct crew interviews as requested by the crewing department.
  • Prepare relevant TMSA elements for upload as assigned.
  • Monitor and process routine vessel reports.
  • Ensure timely closure of deficiencies reported on vessels, particularly for critical equipment.
  • Conduct sales and purchase inspections and tasks related to vessel takeovers and new buildings as assigned.
  • Arrange for servicing of vessel safety equipment (life rafts, firefighting appliances, etc.) within specified timeframes.
  • Oversee and supply vessel operations-related equipment servicing (cargo hoses, fenders, mooring ropes, UTI, etc.).
  • Verify all deck repairs, stores, maintenance, and servicing quotations/invoices for approval.
  • Manage the budget for deck stores, spares, and repairs.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Marine Manager.
