Qualifications:A minimum of 5 years of experience in production machining, with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical field preferred. Previous experience in designing and tooling parts within a manufacturing setting. Strong mathematical, problem-solving skills, and proficiency in blueprint reading. Proficient with computer applications relevant to the role. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks effectively. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

In this role, you will be pivotal in identifying advanced manufacturing methods, troubleshooting production challenges, and collaborating with internal teams to optimize operations. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, along with relevant professional experience in manufacturing and design, complemented by strong analytical and mathematical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary contact for resolving tooling-related manufacturing issues.
  • Collaborate with plant operations to address safety, quality, throughput, and tooling cost concerns.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
  • Oversee weekly tooling expenditures against a variable piece cost budget.
  • Conduct tool trials in compliance with customer specifications and document results.
  • Update and revise tooling documentation and drawings as necessary.
  • Develop innovative systems for tooling reconditioning and reuse when cost-effective.
  • Participate in regular operational and problem-solving meetings.
  • Assist in resolving machining and tooling issues related to production costs and scrap rates.
  • Support cross-functional teams to meet plant performance targets.
  • Recommend optimized machining processes and parameters.
  • Introduce new technologies and improved tooling designs.
  • Provide year-over-year cost per piece reduction strategies.
  • Coordinate with preset teams on effective tool setup techniques.
  • Utilize PFEP and Top Spend Data to initiate cost-saving projects.
  • Complete necessary cost savings and tool testing documentation.
  • Report and address non-conformances and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness standards within the workplace.
  • Exercise decision-making within general standards and procedures.
  • Report near misses and cooperate with incident investigations.
  • Other duties as needed.
