Role Overview

The Director of Technical Writing will lead the evolution of technical documentation at GitLab. Reporting to the Chief Design Officer, this leader guides a team through significant change, with a focus on AI, process improvements, and close collaboration with Engineering, Product Management, and UX.

This role involves challenging established practices, encouraging engineering teams to take greater ownership of source documentation, and seeking new ways to integrate documentation into the product experience, especially with GitLab Duo.

In the first year, priorities include assessing the current team structure, developing new skills and capabilities, strengthening partnerships across groups, and improving satisfaction with the documentation site. The position suits a leader who combines innovative thinking with practical approaches, aiming to make documentation a more integrated and actionable part of the GitLab platform.
