Role overview
The Director of Banking Operations leads the UK Banking Operations division based in London. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring payment services operate smoothly, client assets remain protected, and all activities comply with UK regulations. The scope covers operational process oversight, correspondent banking relationships, payment investigations, reconciliation, and the performance of systems supporting banking operations. Unlimit is looking for someone with deep experience in payments, banking infrastructure, and the UK regulatory landscape for licensed financial institutions.
Leadership and department management
- Lead and develop the UK Banking Operations team to achieve strong performance.
- Create and maintain internal procedures, controls, and systems for department functions.
- Work closely with Treasury, Compliance, AML, Risk, Finance, Legal, and IT teams to ensure operational responsibilities are met.
Operational oversight
- Build and manage relationships with UK and international correspondent banks.
- Monitor correspondent account balances, cutoff times, and liquidity to enable uninterrupted payment execution.
- Supervise external service providers and ensure they meet contractual obligations.
- Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and scheme updates, and advise Executive Management on potential improvements.
Safeguarding and regulatory compliance
- Protect client funds and ensure all operations comply with regulatory requirements.
