NET, PowerShell, and role compatibility across Windows Server versions. Proficient in validating post-upgrade OS health metrics. Experience with VMware vSphere and virtual machine management. Understanding of security baseline changes and compliance after upgrades.

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Windows Server Upgrade Analyst to lead critical in-place upgrades from Windows Server 2016 to 2019 and/or 2022. This role demands a proactive approach to assessing and overcoming upgrade challenges while ensuring a smooth transition.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute in-place upgrades from Windows Server 2016 to 2019 and/or 2022.
  • Analyze Windows Server upgrade paths, edition compatibility, and licensing concerns.
  • Identify and resolve pre-upgrade obstacles, including deprecated roles and applications.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot setupact.log and setuperr.log issues.
  • Confirm compatibility of . NET, PowerShell, and roles across different Windows Server versions.
  • Validate system health post-upgrade, including services, roles, performance, and event logs.
  • Manage VMware vSphere and virtual machine operations, including snapshots, disk space checks, and VMware Tools updates.
  • Conduct Windows Upgrade Readiness checks and ensure application support for target OS.
  • Establish backup validity and recovery options.
  • Consider security and compliance risks, including TLS and antivirus compatibility.
