THE PROGRAM

Our Veterinary Technician Student Externship Program is designed to provide aspiring veterinary technicians with a hands-on, immersive experience in emergency medicine, working alongside our highly skilled emergency veterinary technicians.

In this externship, you won’t be merely observing; you will actively participate. Engage in the action, ask questions, practice new techniques, and delve into the world of emergency medicine. You'll gain valuable exposure to patient triage, diagnostics, inpatient care, and more, helping you to discover if a career in emergency medicine aligns with your aspirations. This is your opportunity to build a solid foundation, inspire your career path, and contribute to a larger mission.

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Learn from the leading professionals in emergency veterinary care.
  • Receive real-time mentoring from a credentialed emergency veterinary technician while on the floor.
  • Shadow and assist with triage, outpatient visits, diagnostics, anesthesia, inpatient care, and beyond.
  • Practice essential skills outlined in your school’s proficiency checklist with guidance.
  • Experience the collaborative spirit, pace, and empathy that define emergency care at VEG.
