THE PROGRAM

Our Veterinary Technician Student Externship Program is designed to support aspiring veterinary technicians in realizing their potential. This hands-on program offers immersive experiences in emergency medicine alongside our credentialed emergency veterinary technicians.

As an extern, you will not just observe but actively participate in the action. You'll engage with real cases, ask questions, and try out new techniques, gaining practical insights into the fast-paced world of emergency medicine. From patient triage and diagnostics to inpatient care, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of what it means to work in an ER, helping you determine if this is the career path for you. This is your opportunity to build a solid foundation, find inspiration, and contribute to something bigger.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Learn from top professionals in emergency veterinary care.
  • Work closely with a credentialed emergency veterinary technician for mentorship and on-the-job training.
  • Shadow team members and assist with triage, outpatient visits, diagnostics, anesthesia, inpatient care, and more.
  • Practice skills outlined in your school’s proficiency checklist with guidance and mentorship.
