THE PROGRAM

The VEG Veterinary Technician Student Externship Program is designed to nurture future veterinary technicians by offering a hands-on, immersive experience in emergency veterinary medicine. You won’t merely observe; you will actively participate, getting close to the action, asking questions, experimenting with techniques, and exploring the dynamic environment of an emergency room. From patient triage to diagnostics and inpatient care, this externship provides the foundation you need to determine if this is the career path you wish to pursue.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Gain insights from top emergency veterinary professionals in the field.
  • Collaborate with a credentialed emergency veterinary technician for hands-on mentoring.
  • Shadow and assist in triage, outpatient visits, diagnostics, anesthesia, inpatient care, and more.
  • Practice essential skills in line with your school's proficiency checklist under expert guidance.
