Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced UPS Field Service Engineer to leverage extensive knowledge in UPS systems, specifically in start-up, testing, and operational procedures. This position entails commissioning, preventative maintenance, and emergency support for power electronic systems at various customer locations across South Florida.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive commissioning design reviews, develop test protocols, and oversee on-site testing activities.
- Execute preventive maintenance, respond to emergencies, perform equipment start-ups, and implement field modifications.
- Collaborate with technical support teams to address maintenance and operational challenges.
- Assist in the formulation of Methods of Procedures (MOPs).
- Report any unusual occurrences or developments to supervisory personnel.
- Participate in training sessions at company headquarters to enhance skills in testing equipment and system rebuilds.
- Timely completion of Field Service Reports, along with proactive recommendations for clients.
- This position allows for a home-based work arrangement.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience is required; 10+ years is preferred.
- Proficient in troubleshooting UPS systems, batteries, PDUs, STSs, and related equipment.
- Familiarity with hand tools and testing equipment for maintenance and repair operations.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, coupled with exceptional customer service aptitude.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, showcasing resourcefulness and initiative.
- Comprehensive understanding of equipment manufacturers’ specifications.
- Must be physically capable of lifting up to 100 lbs and performing bending tasks as necessary.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and be on-call as required.
- Basic computer hardware and software knowledge is essential.
- Prior experience with third-party UPS service providers is advantageous.
- OEM factory training or experience with brands such as Emerson/Liebert/Vertiv, APC/MGE/Schneider, or Eaton/Powerware/PDI is mandatory.
- A technical degree (e.g., from DeVry, Lincoln Tech) is a plus.
- Military veterans with a background in Electrical/Mechanical systems are highly encouraged to apply (e.g., Navy EMN, ETN, MMNs, Army Power Generation, Air Force Power Production, Coast Guard, etc.).
- A clean driving record is required.
- This role primarily involves regional travel within South Florida, with occasional national travel for urgent situations.
