Position Overview

We invite applications from two enthusiastic individuals for the inaugural TAMC Student Fellow roles. These fellows will contribute to the Transportation Agency for Monterey County (TAMC) projects that aim to enhance the local community's well-being and resonate with the Middlebury Institute’s mission of promoting understanding, peace, and transformative change for a more equitable world. The TAMC Student Fellows will collaborate closely with the TAMC Faculty Fellow, engaging in various tasks including qualitative research, bilingual communications and public outreach, community engagement, strategic planning, and administrative support. This is a remarkable chance to acquire practical experience in community-engaged projects based in Monterey.

The TAMC Fellowship represents a collaboration between the Middlebury Institute of International Studies (MIIS), CoLab, and the Transportation Agency for Monterey County (TAMC). It facilitates a platform where students, faculty, and staff partner on initiatives that champion language inclusion, community engagement, sustainability, and livability. Our framework is anchored in the CoLab initiative, characterized by collaboration, intentionality, a focus on social justice, and community-driven efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in executing project activities in collaboration with the TAMC Faculty Fellow.
  • Formulate community-centric engagement strategies, encompassing outreach campaigns, promotional materials, and qualitative research, including surveys and interviews.
  • Collect and analyze data to bolster TAMC initiatives.
  • Interact with community members and TAMC staff to amplify project outcomes.
