Role Overview: Staff Systems Engineer
This Denver-based role focuses on the full lifecycle of the ATARS product. The Staff Systems Engineer will shape requirements, define system architecture, manage interfaces, and drive integration and verification efforts. Collaboration with teams across hardware, software, optics, testing, and airworthiness is central to the position. The goal: deliver technically sound, compliant, and mission-ready systems.
Main Responsibilities
- Create, break down, and manage system and subsystem requirements using approved requirements management tools.
- Build and maintain the Requirements Verification Traceability Matrix (RVTM) to ensure traceability from requirements to verification artifacts.
- Develop and update Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for internal and external system integrations, including hardware, software, avionics, and platform interfaces.
- Lead and facilitate design milestone reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, SVR).
- Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods, such as SysML, to design system architectures, functional breakdowns, use cases, and interface models.
- Conduct trade studies and technical analyses to support design choices and improve system performance.
- Oversee allocation of weight, power, and other system resources among components.
- Coordinate and supervise system integration and verification in both lab and aircraft settings.
- Identify technical risks and manage mitigation strategies.
- Act as a technical liaison with internal teams and external partners to align on system design and performance requirements.
