Role Overview: Staff Software Engineer – Builder Tools (Remote, US)

The Builder Tools Team is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to improve the internal engineering ecosystem. This role focuses on building and refining tools that support developers across the organization. The position involves close collaboration with multiple teams to standardize workflows, reduce friction, and create effective feedback channels with product leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and improve internal engineering tools to streamline workflows for builders.
  • Set best practices and encourage the use of AI-driven coding tools through guidance, automation, and direct support.
  • Architect, build, and manage internal agents that serve multiple teams and use cases.
  • Own and refine developer workflows, including guardrails and evaluation frameworks, to support safe and effective tool adoption.
  • Lead the strategy, development, and operation of the internal agent platform, focusing on reliability and scalability.
  • Work with Engineering, Product, Sales, and G&A teams to identify where AI can improve productivity and outcomes.
  • Implement measurement systems to track usage, reliability, cost, and cycle time, using this data to guide improvements.
  • Create and update documentation, playbooks, and resources to drive adoption of standardized practices.
  • Mentor engineers on the team, raising standards for technical design and use of AI-enabled tools.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to help maintain system reliability.
