About the Role
We are seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to lead the development of FLORA's core platform. As the technical authority, you will be responsible for our backend architecture, including the database layer and generation infrastructure, ensuring a seamless real-time experience for our users as we scale.
This is a pivotal role in our growth journey. We need a passionate backend architect who will take ownership and guide our systems to accommodate a tenfold increase in demand. You will have significant influence over our technical direction and play a crucial role in shaping our backend team’s future.
Your Responsibilities
- Design and implement a generation orchestration layer capable of handling increasing user demand and operational volume.
- Enhance observability across our infrastructure to reduce failure rates and proactively address issues.
- Optimize our database architecture through effective schema design, indexing strategies, and migration plans.
- Make strategic decisions regarding vendors and architecture to enable new feature development.
- Collaborate closely with the CTO, Product Engineering, and Intelligence Engineering teams to ensure a robust and efficient foundation for our client features.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in building scalable backend systems.
- 5+ years of expertise in TypeScript, with a strong emphasis on type safety and error management.
- Demonstrated ability to design and maintain reliable systems.
- Familiarity with advanced queue-based architectures, including job scheduling and fault tolerance.
- Strong instincts for observability, with experience in system instrumentation and dashboard creation.
- A proven track record of leading technical initiatives, guiding teams towards innovative solutions.
