Your Role
We are searching for a Staff Backend Engineer to take charge of critical infrastructure development. This position offers you the opportunity to shape technical direction, architect systems capable of handling multi-petabyte datasets, and establish engineering excellence standards within our team. You'll tackle high-impact challenges independently, mentor senior engineers, and guide architectural decisions that will define the trajectory of our infrastructure.
About the Team
The Archival team is dedicated to providing APIs for querying Solana's extensive multi-petabyte ledger with sub-100ms response times. If you thrive in environments focusing on large datasets and low-latency performance engineering, this is the ideal team for you. We operate with agility, manage a significant surface area, and function like a close-knit group of founders at the heart of the company.
Your Responsibilities
Lead the architecture and development of ingestion, indexing, and retrieval systems within our archival infrastructure.
Steer technical strategies to enhance API performance, reliability, and scalability across high-throughput services.
Design and refine data models and query patterns for ClickHouse, Postgres, and RocksDB at scale.
Facilitate system design discussions and make key architectural decisions regarding caching, distributed data patterns, and performance trade-offs.
Establish standards for operational excellence, debugging methodologies, and performance profiling throughout production systems.
Guide and mentor senior engineers to uplift the team's overall capabilities and performance.
