Your Role

As a Senior Tooling Designer, you will work closely with our foundry tooling engineers and pattern makers to convert casting requirements into effective tooling solutions:

  • Tooling Design & Layout: Create multi-cavity mold and core box designs utilizing 3D CAD software (such as PowerShape, Inventor, Creo, NX, etc.), incorporating shrinkage, draft angles, radii, and fillet adjustments for manufacturability.
  • CAD Modeling & Surfacing: Generate precise 3D models from 2D layouts, execute complex surfacing tasks, and calculate pattern offsets to ensure dimensional accuracy.
  • CAM Support: Deliver CNC toolpath-ready models and detailed geometry specifications to CAM programmers for the efficient machining of patterns and cores.
  • Documentation & Drawings: Create comprehensive build, assembly, and material-takeoff drawings for the pattern shop; address design inquiries and manage material orders.
  • Process Improvements: Propose new tooling technologies and rework strategies; conduct training sessions for pattern personnel to enhance shop capabilities.
