About the job
About Vapi:
At Vapi, we are pioneering a transition to voice as the primary interface for human interaction.
Our platform stands out as the most adaptable solution for deploying voice agents.
In just two years, our community has grown to over 600,000 developers, with an addition of over 2,000 daily.
Role Overview:
We are searching for a Senior Technical Writer who excels in managing product information, not just writing technical documents.
Our rapid development cycles mean documentation can quickly become outdated—treating documentation drift as a critical issue is essential.
Our support team relies on accurate documentation to assist customers. When documents are flawed, it slows down support, frustrates users, and requires engineers to clarify what should be documented.
We handle intricate concepts, and the clarity of our documentation can directly impact developer satisfaction and retention.
This position reports to the VP of Product, emphasizing the importance of documentation in our product experience.
While we utilize AI for documentation, it cannot validate content. We require a human expert to ensure accuracy and relevance.
Key Responsibilities:
First 30 Days:
Become proficient with the Vapi platform by creating and testing features.
Review and critically evaluate existing documentation.
Identify the top three questions developers frequently ask and provide comprehensive answers.
Collaborate with the support team to understand common pitfalls.
Draft and publish your first technical document, gather feedback, and refine it.
Next 60 Days:
Take full ownership of developer-facing documentation: API references, quickstarts, guides, tutorials, knowledge base, and FAQs.
