About the Senior Staff AI/ML Engineer Role
Sigma Computing builds a platform that helps users explore and analyze massive datasets through a spreadsheet-like interface. Teams use Sigma to visualize data, create dynamic workbooks, and build custom data applications and workflows. This Senior Staff AI/ML Engineer position joins a team focused on shaping Sigma’s AI foundation. Work here impacts the daily operations of organizations that depend on Sigma for business intelligence and application development.
What You Will Do
- Work with product, design, and engineering to identify AI/ML projects that deliver the most value.
- Design and build AI systems that make complex processes accessible, including recommendation engines, natural language interfaces, and intelligent workflow tools.
- Develop and improve AI/ML infrastructure for both internal and customer-facing features.
- Tackle user experience challenges where AI meets business intelligence and app development.
What We Look For
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (required).
- More than 10 years of experience building and deploying production AI/ML systems.
- Deep knowledge of machine learning, deep learning, and applied AI.
- Hands-on skill with the full machine learning lifecycle: data curation, training, deployment, and monitoring.
- History of delivering reliable solutions in areas such as recommendations, search, machine translation, or similar complex systems.
- Experience adapting or training foundational models (language-based or multimodal) for domain-specific use cases.
Bonus Skills (or Areas to Grow Here)
- Background in building agents for planning, reasoning, and tool use.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience working in a startup or high-growth company.
