Corporate Systems Engineering is integral in building and managing the software platforms, integrations, and automations that support Smartsheet’s essential business operations across Finance, Sales/GTM, and People & Culture. Our team oversees vital systems and processes that dictate how the company hires, sells, invoices, processes payments, reports, and scales. We apply the same level of rigor, reliability, and product-focused approach to our internal systems as we do for our customer-facing applications.
The People Systems team specializes in engineering and managing platforms that facilitate the entire employee lifecycle, encompassing HR, payroll, learning, and talent management systems. We meticulously balance deep platform configuration with extensibility, integration, and data integrity to deliver dependable, compliant systems that evolve with the organization.
As a Senior Software Engineer II on the People Systems team, you will serve as a technical leader within the People & Culture (P&C) domain, responsible for developing complex, high-impact engineering solutions that extend beyond conventional application configuration. This position emphasizes creating scalable, dependable, and extensible solutions across Workday, people data, integrations, and automation that support the comprehensive employee lifecycle, enabling the business to function with precision, speed, and insight. You will operate at the crossroads of enterprise platforms, custom engineering, and data, aiding in the transformation of People Systems from primarily UI-driven administration to a product-grade, engineering-led capability within Product Engineering.
This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer who is adept at navigating configuration, coding, integrations, and data, and who thrives on tackling ambiguous, cross-functional challenges in a regulated enterprise environment.
