Role Overview:
As a Senior Security Research Engineer, you will utilize your strong technical expertise and creative problem-solving abilities to drive investigations and generate innovative research ideas. This position is pivotal in equipping our engineering teams with the necessary insights to enhance coverage, derive deeper insights from our data, and deliver improvements directly to our clients.
Your tasks may vary from analyzing hosts vulnerable to specific CVEs to investigating endpoints to enhance the classification of networking devices. You will have the unique opportunity to explore the most extensive internet-wide scan data available, documenting your findings to share with the wider security community through blogs and presentations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Internet measurement research using Censys’ Internet-wide scan data, identifying and analyzing trends with significant security implications.
- Collaborate with Research and Product teams to deliver new security prototypes to customers and guide the development of new products.
- Inspect, mine, transform, and analyze large datasets to identify patterns supporting engineering efforts such as predictive modeling, vulnerability detection, and threat actor identification.
- Work closely with multiple engineering teams to inform technical decision-making regarding enhanced coverage, context, and insights.
- Assist in data classification and dataset interrogation using techniques like entity resolution and data gap analysis.
- When required, represent Censys publicly through knowledge sharing about how Internet-wide security trends impact our customers across various sectors.
