About the job

Join our innovative R&D team at Brainlab, where we are pioneering the next generation of image-guided surgery and Digital O. R. platforms. Our cutting-edge medical devices are foundational to both current and future software solutions, designed to uphold the highest standards of safety, performance, and regulatory compliance.

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will assume technical leadership over development projects within our surgical navigation portfolio. You will guide the product development journey from initial concept through verification and onto certification as a medical product, collaborating closely with hardware, software, quality assurance, and external partners. This role uniquely blends hands-on engineering, technical oversight, and project coordination within a regulated medical device environment.

We welcome junior or mid-level engineers who possess strong technical fundamentals and potential for growth, as responsibilities can be adjusted based on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and influence decision-making with innovative creativity and expertise.
  • Drive the product requirements engineering process by transforming stakeholder feedback into compliant system, software, and hardware specifications.
  • Define, assess, and refine technical concepts and architectures across various disciplines, including systems, software, electronics, and mechanics.
  • Coordinate development efforts both internally and externally, working with suppliers, partners, and testing facilities.
  • Plan and oversee prototype assembly, component validation, and iterative design processes.
  • Define, execute, and document verification activities; facilitate interdisciplinary troubleshooting and root-cause analysis; and lead bug resolution or redesign efforts to meet specifications.
  • Contribute significantly to the creation of design and development documentation in accordance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Act as a technical liaison among contributors, including hardware, software, quality management, and project management teams.

In this role, you will engage with our platform development team, multiple software groups, regulatory functions, international suppliers, and development partners. Success requires clear communication, sound technical judgment, and structured decision-making.
