About the job

About Sparrow

Sparrow builds employee leave management software that blends advanced technology with a personal approach. The company’s mission is to make it easier for organizations to provide family, medical, and other types of leave, so employees and HR teams spend less time on paperwork and compliance headaches.

Many current leave management systems are slow and confusing. Leaders struggle to keep up with changing rules, and employees often get lost in complex processes. Sparrow cuts through this, transforming a process that usually drags on into a streamlined 30-minute experience. Teams can save 20-40 hours and up to $30,000 for each leave handled through Sparrow.

Headquartered in San Francisco, Sparrow operates as a remote-first company. The team is spread across the U. S. and values collaboration, humility, and a focus on solving real problems for real people.

Role Overview: Senior Product Designer (Remote)

The Senior Product Designer will shape key areas of Sparrow’s product, taking projects from early discovery through to polished user interfaces and shipped features. This role partners closely with Product and Engineering, and brings a strong voice to design processes and standards. As a senior individual contributor, the designer will own major product segments, work independently, and help raise the bar for quality and consistency across the platform.

What You Will Do

  • Lead end-to-end design of product features and workflows, from early research through to detailed UI and final delivery.
  • Create solutions for operationally complex scenarios, addressing edge cases, regulatory details, and real-world processes without overwhelming users.
  • Design for a range of user types and experience levels, ensuring cohesive experiences across multiple personas.
  • Work closely with Product and Engineering to clarify problems, explore options, define project scopes, and deliver high-quality results efficiently.
  • Use research and data to inform design, conducting interviews, mapping workflows, testing prototypes, and iterating based on insights.
  • Maintain and evolve design patterns and systems, supporting speed and consistency in the product.
  • Share design rationale, tradeoffs, and decisions to keep Engineering, Product, and Design teams aligned.

As an early senior designer at Sparrow, this role will help shape both the product’s evolution and the broader user experience strategy.
