About the job

The Company

Flagship Labs 119 Inc. (FL119) is an innovative technology firm at the cutting edge of neuroscience and computation. We are on a mission to revolutionize the landscape of intelligent system development, driven by the belief that the future of artificial intelligence necessitates a radical re-evaluation of existing paradigms. Our objective is ambitious and urgent: to cultivate a future in which naturalistic, resilient intelligence can thrive and function sustainably at scale.

Supported by Flagship Pioneering, we possess the courage, strategic vision, and resources essential for achieving extraordinary outcomes. At FL119, we foster a culture that is interdisciplinary and collaborative. Our teams flourish in dynamic and imaginative settings where every voice is valued, recognizing that diverse experiences, transferable skills, and genuine passion are key to our success.

The Role:

We are in search of a visionary and technically proficient Neuromorphic Systems Architect to join our team. We offer flexible leveling based on your experience.

This position will concentrate on converting nonlinear neural dynamics into state-of-the-art computational architectures. You will engage at the intersection of neuroscience, dynamical systems theory, and hardware engineering to design and prototype electronic systems that integrate biologically inspired computation principles.

This is not your typical AI accelerator role; we are looking for someone who can reconceptualize computing from foundational principles, designing architectures that embrace recurrence, nonlinearity, sparsity, event-driven signaling, and adaptive dynamics as core components rather than limitations.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Translate brain-inspired computation through dynamical systems theory into hardware-relevant abstractions.
  • Design innovative neuromorphic or neuro-inspired hardware systems (analog, mixed-signal, in-memory, or alternative substrates).
  • Establish system-level architecture that encompasses memory models, communication protocols, and energy-efficient computing primitives.
  • Collaborate closely with teams in neuroscience, signal processing, and machine learning to ensure a seamless integration of biological insights with architectural design.
  • Lead feasibility studies, simulations, and early-stage prototyping initiatives.
  • Assess trade-offs across CMOS, emerging devices, photonic, memristive, or other unconventional computing substrates.
  • Contribute to our intellectual property strategy, including invention disclosures and patents.
  • Help define the long-term computing vision of the company.
