Requirements:A Master's degree in Planning, Public Administration, or a related field with 5-10 years of applicable experience. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree will also be considered. AICP certification preferred or in progress. A solid understanding of municipal planning principles and practices, zoning, and public engagement. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to present effectively to elected officials, boards, and the public. Excellent presentation and facilitation skills. Graphic and visualization skills to support plans and engagement efforts. Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and grow. An outgoing personality, capable of working effectively with diverse community stakeholders.

Our dedicated planning team collaborates closely with municipalities, delivering comprehensive planning and zoning assistance that enhances community resilience and fosters sustainable development. We excel in various areas, including community and neighborhood planning, zoning regulations, revitalization efforts, environmental planning, grant services, and effective community engagement.

The perfect candidate will possess extensive experience in municipal planning support, demonstrating expertise in comprehensive planning, zoning, public engagement, and actionable implementation strategies that enable communities in Tennessee to realize their long-term objectives. Exceptional writing, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills are crucial for success in this role.

The successful applicant will be a self-starter, a team player, and enthusiastic about contributing to municipal planning initiatives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing detailed reports and analyses, including comprehensive plans, land use studies, and revitalization strategies for neighborhoods and downtowns.
  • Leading and facilitating public meetings, workshops, and engagement events to collect valuable community feedback.
  • Drafting and updating zoning ordinances, subdivision regulations, and other land use tools.
  • Preparing and managing grant applications to support municipal projects and programs.
  • Overseeing project management, including scheduling, budgets, deliverables, and client communications.
  • Building and nurturing relationships with municipal clients, including creating proposals and presentations for boards and councils.
