Role Overview

The Senior Marketing Data Scientist - Machine Learning will join the Marketing Data Science (MDS) team in San Francisco, CA. This role supports SoFi’s Marketing organization by providing analytics, building models, running experiments, and measuring performance to drive marketing and growth initiatives.

Key work includes designing, building, and scaling machine learning models that improve acquisition, conversion, retention, and customer lifetime value (LTV) across SoFi’s product lines. The position uses behavioral, transactional, and credit data to develop predictive models and actionable insights.

This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to identify business needs, manage the end-to-end model development process, implement models in production, and monitor their ongoing performance. Regulatory compliance is an important aspect of the work.

Main Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models to optimize customer acquisition, onboarding, and engagement for products such as loans, credit cards, investments, and cryptocurrency.
  • Build predictive models for outcomes like Customer Lifetime Value (LTV), conversion rates, cross-sell and upsell effectiveness, and retention across channels including email, direct mail, in-app, and Operations.
  • Work with structured and unstructured data (behavioral signals, transaction data, credit attributes) to enable audience segmentation and large-scale personalization. Maintain a feature store to streamline model development.
  • Set up A/B testing frameworks to evaluate marketing strategies and measure their impact.
