Qualifications

ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline. A minimum of 10 years of experience for Lead positions, ideally within a design firm environment. A minimum of 15 years of experience for Senior positions, preferably in a design firm context. Proficiency in structural engineering software. Extensive experience in performing engineering calculations, and designing and implementing discipline-specific systems. In-depth knowledge of structural material codes. Intermediate understanding of other relevant industry standards and applicable building codes. Strong capability in coordinating with internal and external project teams. Effective collaboration with construction trade partners, vendors, and manufacturers. Ability to conduct structural design calculations with minimal supervision.

CRB is actively looking for a Senior Lead Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team in Philadelphia. This pivotal role is designed for an experienced professional who excels in a leadership capacity, overseeing a diverse array of structural engineering projects ranging from simple to highly complex. In this position, you will be responsible for managing specific budgets, mentoring engineering teams, and ensuring the timely delivery of superior structural solutions that meet client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership:
    Take charge of the structural engineering discipline on various projects, guiding them from initial concept through to construction completion. Oversee discipline-specific budgets to ensure alignment with project objectives.

  • Team Management & Mentorship:
    Lead and nurture a team of engineers and designers, encompassing entry-level through to senior professionals, while ensuring efficient task execution and fostering professional growth.

  • Client & Stakeholder Coordination:
    Act as the main liaison for clients and external partners, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with internal teams for seamless project integration.

  • Technical Oversight:
    Develop, review, and approve construction drawing packages and specifications for complex projects. Conduct thorough quality checks, including the technical verification of design calculations and documents, while identifying and resolving any non-compliances during site inspections.

  • Construction Support:
    Provide expert support during construction phases, including managing Requests for Information (RFIs), reviewing submittals, creating punch lists, and reporting on project progress.

  • Project Planning:
    Collaborate closely with Project Managers on project proposals, man-hour estimates, and scheduling for the structural components of the work.

  • Design Leadership:
    Lead system design programming and master planning initiatives. Ensure the execution of advanced structural designs while upholding technical excellence throughout.
