About the job
Merge Labs is an innovative research laboratory dedicated to integrating biological and artificial intelligence to enhance human capability, autonomy, and experience. Our cutting-edge focus is on developing revolutionary brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) that communicate with the brain at high bandwidth, seamlessly integrate with advanced AI, and are designed to be safe and accessible for everyone.
Team Overview:
Our advanced BCIs aim to restore lost abilities, promote healthier brain conditions, deepen interpersonal connections, and expand the realms of human potential in collaboration with advanced AI. Our team is pivotal in transforming this vision into algorithms. By leveraging expertise in synthetic biology, neuroscience, device physics, signal processing, and machine learning, we create innovative methods to connect human and artificial intelligence. We design experiments, develop analytical frameworks, gather data, train models, and optimize performance to construct scalable Brain-AI systems for diverse applications. We operate with a sense of urgency, balancing creative exploration with engineering precision, as we tackle one of the most significant challenges of our era: enhancing human capability, autonomy, and experience.
Role Overview:
As the lead infrastructure engineer, you will establish and oversee the processes through which teams deploy internal and collaborative applications. You will manage essential systems such as access control lists (ACLs), network boundaries, virtual machines (VMs), configuration management, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) systems, facilitating the deployment of various low-latency, high-throughput laboratory tools, including closed-loop automation and clinician-facing applications. Collaborating closely with our hardware team, you will integrate custom high-throughput hardware into our computing infrastructure. Your contributions will be vital in enabling self-service interfaces for scientists, allowing them to deploy their work with minimal coding expertise, ensuring accessibility for all staff members.
This position reports to the Head of Software and requires cross-functional collaboration, addressing the needs of hardware specialists, data engineers, and scientists utilizing internal off-the-shelf products.
