Join SumUp as a Senior Hardware Engineer and be at the forefront of developing innovative physical products. As a valuable member of our Hardware Tribe, you will transform product specifications into efficient and scalable electrical designs. Your daily responsibilities will include designing, reviewing schematics, and troubleshooting existing implementations. Collaborating closely with mechanical engineers and various stakeholders, you will ensure our products meet high standards of quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in accelerating product development and mitigating risks within our expanding portfolio.
This position is office-based in our Berlin location, where we encourage organic, face-to-face interactions that enhance collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, evaluate, and enhance electrical schematics for new product development.
- Work in tandem with firmware and mechanical engineers to design, test, and validate our products.
- Debug and validate designs through prototyping and iterative testing.
- Collaborate with our dedicated Hardware team to brainstorm solutions for complex challenges and propose design optimizations.
- Serve as a hardware engineering expert, coordinating implementation efforts with agile, cross-functional teams within product development projects.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- 3-5 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably within consumer electronics or hardware product development.
- Strong expertise in various domains including RF (cellular, NFC, Wi-Fi/BT), power design, digital buses/protocols, battery technology, and analog design.
- Demonstrated success in launching multiple hardware products into mass production.
- Proficient in at least one popular CAD system (e.g., Altium, Cadence/Allegro).
- A proactive and independent approach, combined with a willingness to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- Basic coding skills for simple firmware compilation and validation.
