About the job
Tessl is an innovative Series A startup rapidly making strides in the tech landscape, headquartered in London. Founded by Guy Podjarny, we have successfully secured over $100M in funding from renowned investors such as Index Ventures, Accel, GV, and Boldstart. This year, we proudly ranked #2 in Sifted EU’s B2B SaaS Rising 100 and #20 in Sifted's AI 100.
At Tessl, we are at the forefront of a transformative shift in software development powered by AI. We envision a future where AI Native Developers define features, architecture, and workflows through specifications rather than code, steering the efforts of AI agents. Our pioneering platform is designed to lead this new paradigm and foster a thriving ecosystem for developers.
Joining Tessl means becoming an integral part of a dynamic team, with the chance to influence the future of software creation and maintenance.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with a strong customer-centric approach.
In the role of Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), you will be deeply integrated at the crossroads of product development, engineering, and customer success. Unlike traditional Software Engineers, FDEs at Tessl prioritize customer engagement and exploration over prolonged project depth.
Your week may involve collaborating closely with a design partner, then embedding within a Tessl team for several weeks as a technical lead to deliver crucial features that drive customer success, before cycling back to engage with customers or exploring new opportunities.
You will report directly to Maurilio Cometto, our Head of Engineering.
Your Responsibilities
You will enjoy a high degree of autonomy and will be empowered to make decisions that you believe will maximize your success. Your responsibilities will include:
Acting as a trusted technical advisor to design partners and early adopters (typically companies with 100+ employees).
Integrating into Tessl teams as an ad-hoc technical lead to drive customer-focused features to completion.
Identifying specific product gaps hindering adoption or deals, and transforming them into actionable solutions.
Developing production code and rapid prototypes, balancing speed and quality in uncertain scenarios.
Establishing a tight feedback loop between customers and product/engineering teams, collaborating closely with Sales and Support while maintaining an engineering perspective.
The ultimate measure of success in this role is delivering features that win customers. This requires cultivating strong working relationships with both customers and engineering teams, establishing yourself as a trustworthy technical partner.
