AECOM is seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Fire Protection Engineer with a Professional Engineer (PE) license to join our team in Tampa, FL. This pivotal role is part of our Building & Places (B+P) organization, where you will provide specialized engineering expertise related to buildings, facilities, and other structures within B+P. Our Buildings + Places practice encompasses a diverse range of services including architecture, interiors, building engineering, workplace strategy, master planning, urban planning, civil engineering, and landscape architecture. The Tampa office integrates all disciplines, promoting collaboration across regional offices.
This senior engineering position offers an opportunity for professional growth and the chance to enhance our Fire Protection and Life Safety Engineering team through leadership and mentoring. You will play a key role in fostering strong client relationships and collaborating internally across various offices. Reporting to the discipline manager, you will demonstrate the ability to work autonomously, leading building and facility projects while ensuring timely and complete delivery. There is also potential for advancement to a managerial role based on individual performance and experience. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in vertical building development, exhibit strong teamwork skills, focus on client satisfaction, and deliver high-quality work. You will be involved in all project phases, from analysis and conceptual design to final execution and support during construction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the lead fire protection engineer for a variety of building projects, including mid- to large-scale architecture and facility initiatives.
- Effectively manage workload and operate independently on project-specific design tasks while leading team and client communications.
- Communicate technical solutions effectively with clients and articulate project conditions.
- Facilitate project meetings and coordinate efforts with the Architect of Record and Project Manager.
- Conduct quality control reviews of work produced by other team members.
- Provide technical insights for studies and designs, leveraging specific expertise as required.
- Coordinate project scope, schedule, and budget with project managers and senior team members.
