Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental science, environmental engineering, land use planning, or a related field. A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience as an Environmental Compliance Manager, particularly on utility projects encompassing regulatory compliance, preconstruction surveys, and construction monitoring related to various environmental resources. A valid U. S. Driver's license is mandatory. Due to the nature of the work, U. S. Citizenship is required. Preferred Skills/Experience:Over 15 years of relevant experience in environmental compliance. Prior experience with gas utility construction projects as an Environmental Compliance Manager or Senior Compliance Lead is highly preferred. Familiarity with permit application processes, common challenges, and applicable environmental regulations.

AECOM is looking for a highly skilled Senior Environmental Compliance Manager to oversee and support various gas utility projects across Southern California. This role involves dynamic project locations throughout the region, including Riverside, San Bernardino, Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, or San Luis Obispo counties. There may also be opportunities to work on projects in other parts of the Western United States.

*This is an on-call position with flexible hours based on project requirements. Weekly hours can vary significantly, from none to full-time. The majority of work (approximately 90%) will be conducted in the field at project sites, though there may be occasional office or remote work for meetings and administrative tasks. Please note that per diem is generally not provided for daily commutes to job sites.*

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Acting as the Environmental Compliance Manager for one or multiple projects, which includes reviewing and interpreting project plans and permits, ensuring field management and compliance oversight based on various permits, plans, and environmental documents, and coordinating with clients, contractors, and resource agencies.
  • Collaborating effectively with clients, construction contractors, and internal teams on complex projects that involve biological, cultural, and paleontological resource protection, environmental permitting, mitigation strategies, hazardous materials management, air quality assessments, and implementation of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs).
  • Preparing and conducting senior-level reviews of technical memorandums, environmental permitting documents, and other essential technical reports.
  • Maintaining frequent communication with both the AECOM and client project managers, emphasizing professionalism, attention to detail, and effective communication on high-profile and high-stakes projects.
