Qualifications

You Will: Oversee the complete model lifecycle from label definition, feature engineering, training, evaluation, to production deployment, navigating the complexities of ambiguous ground truth. Enhance and expand the feature store by designing and implementing signals across identity, behavioral, and third-party data sources to power reliable detection models at scale. Create and implement detection systems that go beyond notebooks; incorporate rules, clustering, and anomaly detection into production decisions. Utilize AI tools to expedite workflows — actively employ AI-assisted IDEs and copilots for prototyping pipelines, conducting investigations, and automating processes as a standard practice. Collaborate closely with Operations and Engineering teams to ensure the integration of model outputs with real-world actions, continually enhancing the contributor experience. Ideally You'd Have: 5-8 years of experience in Data Science or Machine Learning, with a proven track record of delivering a fraud/abuse/integrity model from concept to deployment. Strong familiarity with AI coding assistants, demonstrating daily use of these tools for efficient SQL/Python development, data exploration, and code generation. Adeptness in feature engineering, possessing an instinct for identifying signals in complex behavioral logs and evaluating their robustness against adversarial challenges. Proficient in SQL and Python, comfortable crafting extensive CTEs, constructing data pipelines, and managing large-scale event data. Experience with both unsupervised methods (such as clustering and anomaly detection) and supervised classification techniques.

About the job

About the Role

At Scale AI, we are pioneering the future of Generative AI and enhancing human-AI collaboration. As a member of the Gen AI Ops Trust and Safety team, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding contributor integrity within a vast marketplace that encompasses hundreds of thousands of contributors involved in training foundational models. We are in search of a data-driven Data Science Lead who thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses a systemic thinking approach, and seamlessly integrates AI coding tools into their daily workflow.

This position offers a high degree of autonomy. You will be responsible for the end-to-end development of fraud and abuse detection models — from defining labels to feature engineering, training, evaluation, and final deployment in production. Collaborating within a compact team, you will achieve remarkable velocity by combining keen analytical insights with AI-enhanced development techniques (using tools like Cursor and Claude Code). If you have previously encountered limitations in teams that operate slowly or differentiate between 'analysis' and 'building', this role is designed to bridge that gap completely.
