Role Overview: Senior Covenant Lawyer - Distressed
9fin is seeking an experienced corporate finance attorney with a deep interest in indentures and a desire to shape thinking in the finance industry. This position supports the distressed editorial teams, helping them interpret and analyze complex bond and loan documents, especially those involved in restructuring and liability management. The role is well suited for finance lawyers who want to stay engaged in their field while enjoying a better work-life balance. The focus will be on expanding coverage of complex out-of-court restructurings in distressed situations.
The position is based in New York, with flexibility for remote work as needed.
This is a chance to apply legal expertise in a start-up setting, working alongside technologists, credit analysts, and journalists, and gaining exposure to new tools and approaches in the industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze leveraged finance and high-yield documentation to provide actionable insights on distressed cases and primary market activity.

- Respond to client questions about covenant structures for specific borrowers and issuers.
