Join Nu Quantum - Pioneering the Future of Technology
Nu Quantum stands at the cutting edge of quantum computing and advanced technology, fueled by innovation, diversity, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. Our mission is to foster an environment where exceptional talents from diverse backgrounds collaborate to expand the limits of what’s achievable.
Established to commercialize research conducted over the past decade at the Cavendish Laboratory, Nu Quantum is dedicated to shaping the future of quantum information systems.
Our team is developing groundbreaking technology that enhances the utility and expedites the realization of quantum computing systems. We are integrating novel quantum photonic technologies to create an efficient and scalable quantum networking infrastructure in collaboration with leading global companies and academic institutions.
About the Role
We are actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced experimental Physicist to join us in constructing our quantum-network demonstrator — a pivotal element of Nu Quantum’s mission to develop scalable, high-performance quantum networks.
In this capacity, you will operate at the intersection of atomic physics, cavity QED, and quantum engineering, becoming a vital member of the AMO physics team. Your collaboration with experts in electronics, optics, and mechanical design will be crucial. You will play a significant role in integrating Nu Quantum’s proprietary qubit-photon interface and cavity microtechnology, propelling us toward state-of-the-art networking rates and fidelities.
This position is highly cross-functional and hands-on, requiring creative problem-solving and system-level thinking. You will have the opportunity to influence experimental design, spearhead technical innovations, and directly contribute to our long-term vision of making practical quantum networking a reality.
If you are excited by the challenge of connecting the quantum realm and wish to contribute to technology that is defining the industry, we would be thrilled to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute remote-entanglement experiments to benchmark and enhance ion-trapping devices utilizing Nu Quantum’s integrated micro-cavity technology.
- Provide mentorship and support to AMO Physicists, fostering their technical expertise, independence, and problem-solving skills.
- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot intricate laboratory systems, including laser setups, RF/DC electronics, control systems, and ultra-high-vacuum hardware.
- Collaborate across disciplines with Software, Optical, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineers, along with theory and simulation teams, to deliver cohesive experimental systems.
- Ensure alignment among project teams and the Project Management Office through clear and timely communication of results, progress, and priorities across interdependent, fast-paced workstreams.
