Nu Quantum stands at the cutting edge of quantum computing and advanced technologies, fueled by a passion for innovation, a diverse workforce, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Here, we foster a collaborative environment where brilliant minds from varied backgrounds unite to explore the limits of what is achievable.
Established to commercialize research cultivated over the past decade at the Cavendish Laboratory, Nu Quantum is dedicated to shaping the future of quantum information systems.
We are developing groundbreaking technologies aimed at enhancing the utility and expediting the market readiness of quantum computing systems. Our focus is on integrating novel quantum photonic technologies to establish a robust and scalable quantum networking infrastructure in collaboration with leading companies and academic institutions worldwide.
About the Role
We are seeking an experimental Physicist to contribute to the development of our quantum-network demonstrator — a vital aspect of Nu Quantum’s mission to create efficient and high-performance quantum networks.
In this position, you will operate at the convergence of atomic physics, cavity QED, and quantum engineering, joining our AMO physics team while closely collaborating with experts in electronics, optics, and mechanical design. Your contributions will be instrumental in integrating Nu Quantum’s proprietary qubit–photon interface and cavity microtechnology, driving advancements towards leading-edge networking rates and fidelities.
This role is highly cross-functional and hands-on, demanding creativity in problem-solving and a systems-level perspective. You will have the chance to influence experimental design, champion technical innovations, and directly impact the long-term vision of achieving practical quantum networking.
If the challenge of bridging the quantum realm excites you, and you aspire to work on technology that is defining this field, we encourage you to apply.
Responsibilities
- Conduct remote-entanglement experiments to evaluate and enhance ion-trapping devices utilizing Nu Quantum’s integrated micro-cavity technology.
- Assist fellow AMO Physicists, fostering technical depth, independence, and problem-solving capabilities within the team.
- Maintain and troubleshoot intricate laboratory systems, including laser configurations, RF/DC electronics, control systems, and ultra-high-vacuum hardware.
- Collaborate across various disciplines with Software, Optical, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineers, along with theory and simulation teams, to deliver cohesive experimental systems.
- Engage in project teams by effectively communicating results, progress, and priorities across interrelated, fast-paced workstreams.
- Adhere to best practices in laboratory safety, documentation, and operational protocols.
