The ideal candidate will have:A robust engineering background, preferably in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.3+ years of experience programming in Python, C++, Java, or other scripting languages.1-3 years of hands-on experience in hardware labs or manufacturing settings.1-3 years of mechanical design experience, with proficiency in CAD tools. Practical experience in robotics, AI, and computer vision. Experience in building and maintaining lab networks and data pipelines. Background in conducting large-scale data collection and experimental setups. Skills in risk management and safe operation of robots. Excellent project management and interpersonal skills, with a keen attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership. Strong communication abilities across different internal and external stakeholders. A passion for learning, empathy, and the ability to work autonomously. Preferred qualifications include:Experience with machine learning pipelines and experimental management.

Join Scale AI's rapidly growing Robotics division, where we are committed to overcoming the data challenges in Physical AI. As a Robotics Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in expanding Scale's robotics fleet and developing software systems for data collection and evaluation.

In this role, you will:

  • Create systems for data acquisition from various robotic platforms and collection methods.
  • Design and fabricate hardware to retrofit robots and develop custom collection methods.
  • Assist in building the necessary pipelines and tools to enhance our robotics projects.
  • Oversee hardware and software integration across different robotic systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance data services.
  • Provide technical support for data collection initiatives and implement new workflows through pilot programs.
  • Become the go-to expert on the capabilities of our robotics labs.
  • Develop expertise in 2D and 3D imaging, multi-sensor fusion, computer vision, machine learning, and related autonomy technologies.
