About the Rigging Technical Director Role
The Rigging Technical Director will join the Melbourne Rigging team to build, maintain, and improve rigs for high-end VFX productions. This role works closely with Modellers and Animators to ensure rigs meet both artistic and technical needs in the studio’s pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and refine scripted rigs that align with animation and lighting requirements.
- Prototype and implement puppet (skeleton), body (deformer and muscle-based), or mechanical rigs for characters and assets.
- Troubleshoot rigging challenges, incorporating feedback from artists to improve performance and usability.
- Develop expertise in Framestore’s rigging toolkit and contribute to its ongoing improvement.
- Create tools that streamline animation workflows and enhance rig functionality.
- Follow established rigging standards and pipeline procedures.
- Deliver work on schedule while balancing production constraints.
