Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited institution.6+ years of relevant experience in the field. Experience must encompass the design and integration of utility-scale renewable and battery storage systems. Current professional engineering (PE) license. Preferred Qualifications:A minimum of four (4) years in a leadership or supervisory role.12+ years of relevant experience is preferred. Proficient in AutoCAD, PVsyst, and Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with industry software such as NREL SAM, ForgeSolar, Helioscope, Homer, ETAP, WindPRO. Capable of performing financial estimations (Capex, Opex), PPA recommendations, and ROI calculations. Experience in MV AC Collection System Design. Special design expertise in floating solar installations is a plus.

AECOM is seeking a dynamic Renewable Energy Technical Lead to spearhead our exceptional team of engineers and designers engaged in renewable energy projects across the nation as part of our US Energy Practice. In this role, AECOM provides the flexibility to work remotely or from various Energy offices located throughout the United States.

 

Our team delivers a comprehensive array of engineering services that support diverse projects nationwide. The renewable project scopes encompass commercial and industrial installations aimed at enhancing resiliency, efficiency, and reliability, as well as utility-scale projects designed to energize communities through interconnected networks and local high-density installations. Key focus areas include solar photovoltaics (PV), incorporating innovative technologies such as agrivoltaics and floating PV, energy storage solutions (e.g., BESS, supercapacitors), interconnection, wind repowering, and new site development.

 

We are searching for an emerging leader with a robust technical background in distributed energy solutions to showcase our capabilities to new clients while nurturing our extensive existing client relationships.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the department manager in fostering a culture dedicated to technical excellence and accountability.
  • Supervise and guide a team of engineers and designers in their professional development to enhance organizational utility and overall job satisfaction.
  • Mentor engineers across the US Energy Practice and remote teams.
  • Drive project efficiency improvements through the creation and implementation of group-specific standards and templates.
  • Provide management with insights on project resourcing and staff forecasting needs.
  • Compile task and deliverable lists with time estimates and schedules to support business development initiatives related to renewable and decentralized energy projects.
  • Contribute to strategic resourcing initiatives and actively participate in recruitment efforts.
  • Lead engineering execution on projects, functioning as the technical lead and engineer of record.
  • Conduct engineering calculations to support construction deliverables (specifications, reports, drawings).
  • Support projects through their complete lifecycle, including feasibility phases, preliminary and detailed design, and more.
