As a Process Engineer specializing in furnace systems, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing and optimizing our existing processes while aiding in our scale-up initiatives. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the design, performance, efficiency, and safety of our processes, while fostering continuous improvements and innovations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Thermal Process Design: Develop and enhance furnaces for specific materials and processes, including the integration of heating systems tailored to our requirements.
- Thermal Modeling: Utilize simulation software such as ANSYS, COMSOL, or CFD tools to model heat transfer, combustion, fluid flow, and temperature distribution within furnaces.
- Material Selection: Identify appropriate refractory materials, insulation, and structural components for furnaces.
- Efficiency Improvements: Proactively identify methods to reduce energy consumption, enhance thermal efficiency, and minimize heat losses.
- Process Control: Establish instrumentation and control strategies to maintain optimal operational stability.
- Prototype Testing: Engage in commissioning and testing of furnace systems, validating thermal performance against specifications.
- Data Analysis: Monitor thermal profiles, gas flows, emissions, and process parameters to facilitate ongoing improvements.
- Documentation: Prepare P&IDs, process flow diagrams, technical specifications, and operation manuals.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs adhere to safety standards and environmental regulations, including emissions control.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the engineering team to integrate mechanical systems and manage solids handling.
- Vendor Liaison: Evaluate and manage suppliers of furnace components and subsystems.
- Failure Analysis: Investigate and resolve furnace-related issues, recommending system upgrades as necessary.
- Safety Management: Implement and conduct routine inspections to mitigate workplace safety hazards.
