Are you ready to push the boundaries of what's achievable?We are looking for:A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related field. Professional qualification with CIWEM or a similar organization, or nearing completion. Extensive experience in hydraulic modelling software application (Flood Modeller and/or TUFLOW) and hydrological assessments using FEH and REFH2.In-depth knowledge of Environment Agency standards for preparing flood models for flood risk assessments. Proficient GIS skills using QGIS, ArcGIS, and/or MapInfo. Experience with additional modelling types and software, such as flood forecasting modelling or water quality modelling using Mike 11, will be beneficial.

Join our innovative and multidisciplinary Water Team as a Principal Flood Modeller in one of our UK offices, benefiting from our flexible hybrid working model. As a senior technical leader, you will mentor junior staff and strive to enhance our services primarily for the Environment Agency and private sector clients.

We have secured positions on major frameworks with the Environment Agency, National Grid, Wessex Water, Anglian Water, National Highways, Southern Water, and South West Water. Alongside our established major infrastructure clients, we have an extensive pipeline of projects that we would be thrilled for you to be part of.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Expert: Spearhead flood flow estimations using methodologies outlined in the Flood Estimations Handbook. Design and validate hydraulic models (utilizing software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, and InfoWorks ICM) to support flood alleviation schemes, flood risk assessments, river restoration projects, or the Environment Agency’s flood maps.
  • Project Delivery: Lead the development of tenders for a range of projects from innovative single initiatives to multimillion-pound framework contracts. Create and assess high-quality technical reports that document model constructions and uncertainties in the model build process. Conceptualize and define modelling and hydrological strategies, taking into account the associated risks and opportunities.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with clients and teams of engineers and technical specialists to facilitate a diverse range of fluvial, coastal, surface water, or drainage flood risk management projects.
  • Leadership: Mentor team members to support their professional growth and foster relationships with clients and other technical disciplines.
  • Quality Assurance: Stay informed about legislative and guideline developments that may impact our services. Utilize AECOM’s project management systems to ensure high-quality outputs for our clients in line with the agreed timelines and budgets.
