Join Uncommon Schools as a Principal Fellow and embark on an impactful journey to lead high-performing schools. As a Principal Fellow, you will undergo specialized training and development utilizing top-tier practices, preparing you to transition into a Principal role upon completion of the Fellowship. In this role, you will co-lead a school alongside an Uncommon Director of Operations. Your progression is supported by the Regional Superintendent of Instruction and the Senior Director of School Support.
Key Elements of the Fellowship:
Feedback and Assessment
Receiving personalized feedback is essential for your growth as a leader. Throughout the Fellowship, you will engage in formal and informal assessments while actively participating in schools, professional development, and collaborative Fellow cohort gatherings. Feedback will come from your Host Principal, the Regional Superintendent of Instruction, and the Senior Director of School Support.
School Immersion
By fully immersing yourself in the daily operations of an Uncommon school, you will be equipped to tackle the complexities of school leadership. Collaborate with your Host Principal and the Senior Director of School Support to strategize on mastering key skills such as Instructional Leadership, Teacher Development, School Culture, and Family Engagement. You will take charge of your learning and seek out opportunities to demonstrate your leadership capabilities.
Professional Development
Participate in monthly cross-regional professional development sessions alongside our Principals to stay abreast of the latest instructional leadership and people management best practices. Additionally, engage in cohort-specific workshops tailored for practical application and peer support.
