The Role

The Patient Recruitment Specialist is accountable for all recruitment-related activities for designated clinical trials. This includes exceptional customer service skills, a thorough understanding of protocol-specific inclusion/exclusion criteria, involvement in the development of recruitment strategies and plans, and tracking recruitment results. The Specialist will primarily handle phone screenings of potential study participants, input data into the clinical database, and schedule potential participants for on-site visits. Additionally, a deep understanding of good clinical practices and privacy regulations as mandated by federal and provincial regulations is essential.

 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of assigned study inclusion/exclusion criteria.
  • Make outgoing calls and respond to incoming calls from potential study patients, assessing their preliminary eligibility against protocol-specific criteria.
  • Thoroughly follow recruitment follow-up processes.
  • Review the patient database to identify potential study candidates and initiate contact.
  • Ensure accurate collection and entry of patient information into our database.
  • Provide courteous and efficient service to all potential participants.
  • Utilize effective communication and report daily to the study team.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with Family Doctors and specialists in the community.
  • Use the electronic database to schedule study visits.
  • Participate and report at weekly team meetings.
  • Plan, organize, and attend community outreach events.
  • Send recruitment update emails to the email database.
  • Fax Family Doctors regarding ongoing studies.
  • Contact patients from physician referrals within 24 hours of referral receipt.
