We are seeking a dedicated part-time Nurse Practitioner in Dermatology to provide episodic and ongoing health care to our diverse university community, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics experiencing skin-related issues. This role is supervised by the Senior Director for Nursing and Health Promotion and the Chief of Dermatology, requiring collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessment:
- Conduct thorough patient interviews to assess current and ongoing skin conditions, medications, and allergies.
- Systematically obtain and record comprehensive health histories.
- Review relevant medical records for prior health information.
- Perform detailed physical assessments pertinent to skin health needs.
- Critically analyze assessment data, history, and physical findings.
Treatment Planning:
- Formulate appropriate intervention plans based on health care assessments, including health supervision, education, and referrals.
- Diagnose conditions and document treatment plans effectively.
- Maintain current problem and medication lists.
- Engage patients, families, and the healthcare team in care discussions as appropriate.
- Prescribe medications with a solid understanding of their effects, dosages, interactions, and potential side effects.
Implementation:
- Follow department protocols, standards, and guidelines for patient care.
- Implement therapeutic treatments and consult with supervising physicians as needed.
- Facilitate patient access through consultations and follow-ups.
- Respond to emergency situations according to established policies.
- Document all patient interactions and care provided in a clear and thorough manner.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding skin conditions, treatment plans, and health maintenance.
- Regularly review care practices with collaborating physicians.
- Ensure a smooth and organized clinic workflow.
- Take accountability for resolving patient care issues.
Evaluation:
- Continuously evaluate and adjust the care plan as necessary to improve patient outcomes.
- Monitor patient satisfaction and respond to feedback effectively.
- Maintain efficiency and accessibility in practice.
