Luminis Health is hiring an Office Assistant to join the Pre-Anesthesia Testing team in Annapolis, MD. This position supports an ambulatory healthcare office, balancing administrative duties with direct patient interaction. The Office Assistant plays a key role in keeping patient flow on track, maintaining records, and providing customer service both face-to-face and over the phone. Daily work involves close coordination with physicians and other staff members.
Main responsibilities
- Welcome patients and complete registration using the practice management system.
- Handle communication with insurance companies and other medical offices for referrals and verifying coverage.
- Scan and abstract documents as needed for patient records.
- Retrieve patient records from other offices or hospitals when requested.
- Answer incoming calls, schedule appointments, take messages, and direct calls appropriately.
- Assist with daily business operations to support smooth office functioning.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required. Completion of an accredited training program preferred.
- At least one year of clerical or billing experience in a medical office is preferred.
- Strong customer service experience is highly preferred.
Licenses and certifications
- Certification in Medical Interpretation is required if serving as a bilingual or multilingual interpreter.
